Hip hop goes back to Afrika Bambatuu in NY in the 1970s Sugar hill gang recorded the first commercial hip hop song. google those for a start.
nice... afika bambaataa started of in the late 1970's, and he sampled a lot of his tracks from the german Techno group Kraftwerk. If you listen to his song PLanet Rock (which was his only MAJOR commercial hit) you can hear this sample VERY clearly.
and yes sugar hill gang officially recorded and released the first hip hop track...Rappers Delight in 1979....thats why we now have the term rap/rapping. This track sampled from Chic "good times"who had probably the last disco song hit of the era, then the "DISCO SUCKS" movemnet came and disco died quickly
