I liked his explanation for the shooting scene. He said it was symbolic of his retirement of the "Jay-Z" character and going back to being Sean Carter. That was sort of cool. He was like a hero going back to his old hood. People were real proud of him. Great song and a great video.

Right now it has to be my favorite video next to the new Beastie Boys video. The whole montage to Brooklyn is really hot and yo Rick Rubin in the video was a nice touch. I also agree I do like the symbolism of him being gunned down at the end of the video to retire Jay-Z and re-birth Shawn Carter.

Yeah, the symbolism is great. They are also showing this plenty of times. It has sort of a disclaimer before it, but its definitely a great video from a great song. Shows how far Jay-Z came in 10 years.

They play that intro before the video every time. Makes it seem ground breaking.

i think that when they show that intro its just painful to anybody watching that shit and dont yall think im crazy cause i didnt see the whole intro i changed it cause im saying the hell i wanna hear him talking in balck and white for but then my cousin said i think i saw this before put it back the video is crazy

yeahh. once you heard it once you heard it enough. i dont think they really need to explain this shit either? i mean no godamm shit that aint really jay-z being killed ? like all shit i watch on tv is reality! lol

This has to be Song of the Year and Video of the Year.
