origin of hip-hop

Hip HOp started in the South Bronx, New York city. IN the late 70's a DJ named kool herc used to throw paties in the parks of their neighborhood. He used to only spin the beat breaks of records , which have become the soul of hip hop music. Emcees would then get on and ryhme or People would dance to the breaks, thus the beginning of breakers or B-boys. Try to look for a DVD called "Scratch". This DVD concentrates on Turntablism but it does have a brief intro into the history of Hip-Hop. There is also another DVD called something else which is made by the same people that is based on the history & status today of Hip-Hop. (Not really news is it?)
